DIY Gen 3 digital night vision for under $500?! was created by That_Guy

Yes, it is possible if you are clever and plan right! I will be starting this little project when I get back from NOLA. Here is what gave me the inspiration. (Videos are lengthy, and the guy is pretty annoying at times, but lots of great info)

This will show you the quality of the image you see (not fully as it is being recorded with a DVR, but you can get an idea)

The camera has the ability to generate a reticle using privacy windows. And, you can actually ZERO and make up to 6 sub-tension lines for different ranges. Now, I know what you're thinking "That's way too much crap hanging off of the rifle to be used", and I agree. HOWEVER, I think my set up will be much more appealing.

First, let me list the parts that I will be using

Camera- www.ludicrous-lumens.co.uk/KPC_EJ230_PUW...616500_13212474.aspx

Lens- 50mm_prime_lens_f14_CCTV_TV_Lens_C_mount (the manual iris and focus is very important)

Monitor- www.amazon.com/TFT-LCD-Monitor-Pocket-si...6MPY198/?tag=ar10-20

Battery- www.usledsupply.com/shop/12v-battery-pac...0mah-5v-9800mah.html

Splitter- www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050H9A18/ref=oh_details_o01_s00_i03

Rail- www.coldshotusa.com/index.php/products/moab-150 (very important to help zeroing, video explains)

Again, I know what you're thinking "man that's still a lot of crap to hang off a rifle". No it won't be! All of the electronics (including display) will be going into this

(painted black for the cool factor)

At 15" long, it's no bigger than a "Tactical" rifle scope! The enclosure will hold the screen, the camera, battery, and wiring. And after I install a rail mount, I can easily take it on or off. I will be rigging up a viewing window using PVC and a rubber eyepiece. I will possibly put a magnifying glass inside the tube if the screen is hard to view. When parts start rolling in, I will update this with lots of pictures and answer any questions. This will mainly stay on a smaller caliber such as a .223. Should be an awesome little(ish) item for coyote hunting.
