OK I have seen this all over the internet. "NEVER shoot 7.62x51 NATO ammo in your rifle chambered for Winchester .308"!!!!! I have seen the diagrams showing the difference between the shoulder and the shoulder thickness and the length of the case neck and the fact that it allows the bullet not to seat properly in the chamber and the case head can be riped off. and the case can separate in the middle.
I guess I am a lucky idiot because I have shot both in my rifles chambered for .308 Winchester for years without any adverse consequences. I do not own head-space go and no-go gauges however I am familiar with such gauges as I have worked around precision machining all my life.
So, opening this can of worms. What say you shooters/reloaders? IS this practice as dangerous as warned on the internet? are there not a lot of wildcat chamberings that the brass is formed by fire-forming the brass to the action? As in the Lott chamberings?
