Cool video! I love the newsreel type announcer and the '50s orchestral music.
Check out the belt feed starting at 12:31. Then go to 13:06 and watch him remove it and switch to mags. Now look at the receiver left side shot at 14:11 and tell me where the port is for the dang belt feed device!
Charlie (had no clue there was a belt fed AR-10)

This video used to be hosted on Armalites site years ago where I first saw it. It may still be there just moved around, but after that first viewing I did a TON of searching for info on the belt fed and didn't come up with much about it. My old bookmarks are not good anymore, even if they were, all they had were grainy old film photos of the belt fed version, nothing really revealing.
Much history about the AR10 and it's variants is lost, understandably so, since preservation for future generations was not a consideration in the development.

I want one of those belt feed systems!I noticed by replaying the video that the belt feed was attached to the lower reciever half on the left side where it mated to the upper half. Now I would need a new lower.

Another interesting thing I've re-re-noticed, at around 4:22 you can see the lack of carrier key and that the gas tube goes straight into the left side of the carrier... there is a little hole there.
