Law Enforcement Support Office was created by OleCowboy

It is the Federal Govt Law Enforcement Support Office. They have all kinds of equipment available to LEO nation wide as very, very low costs. Such as M 16’s, M-14’s (incl full auto) Colt 1911 and 9mm pistols. In addition you can get HMMWV’s and the MRAP and fixed wing and rotary wing aircraft.

A Minnesota community Law Enforcement organization took advantage of this and ordered 12 "free" M-16's. They paid $100 dollars each to have them "securely" shipped, Then paid a gunsmith $1064 EACH to have them changed from selective fire to semi-auto only! So they end up with the equivalent of a $699 DPMS 5.56 rifle for an expenditure of $1,164 per weapon. They could have given the local gun store some business and saved about $6000. The Federal Government isn't the only place that wastes our money. Oh, and these were used.

Waste at the state, county and city level is as bad if not worse than the Feds.

Texas: We have about 254 counties IIRC, then how many school districts with a admin staff all making from the low to the mid 6 figures....TRY 1164 school districts.

Or how about Dallas Ft Worth metroplex. How many cities are located in the metro area? About 175, almost every one has their own Fire Dept, Police force, city admin. How many millions is that costing?

"Captain, we have found what claims to be an intelligent species that will pay four times more for anything that is ordered by an entity of theirs called "Big Governement". Should we scratch them off the list of so-called intelligent species?"

If I'm reading that right, the agencies basically 'borrow' the weapons and upon return have to be originally configured.
