Mexican drug cartels are trying to buy high-powered weapons from military and police forces in Central America, according to El Salvador's defense minister, Gen. David Munguia.

If you ever watch video or look at pictures of the drug war in Mexico, you'll notice some pretty heavy weapons. This is a war being waged with rockets and plastic explosives, not pea shooters and Saturday Night Specials.

Unfortunately, several anti-gun bills have passed in their chambers of origin and have moved to the opposite legislative body for consideration. These bills must be stopped and your help is needed! The following bills have passed in the Assembly and are now in the Senate Public Safety Committee. Please call AND e-mail members of the Senate Public Safety Committee urging them to OPPOSE AB 144 and AB 809. The following bills have passed in the state Senate and are now in the Assembly Public Safety Committee. Please call AND e-mail members of the Assembly Public Safety Committee urging them to OPPOSE SB 124, SB 427, SB 798 and SB 819.

Today, Senate Bill 369 passed in the state House by a 78 to 5 vote. It is now en route to Secretary Beth Chapman’s office to be placed on the 2012 general election ballot. SB 369, sponsored by state Senator Dick Brewbaker (R-25), if ratified by voters next year would reauthorize the Forever Wild Land trust for a 20-year period. Through the reauthorization of the Forever Wild Land Trust, Alabamians can experience the great wild lands and wildlife of the state. Sportsmen have benefited immensely from this critical program, opening up tens of thousands of acres teeming with wildlife. These lands are protected in perpetuity and will provide countless hunting opportunities for generations to come.
