I'm not sure it has as much to do with the appointees as it does the abdication of power and neglect of duty by congress. from 1949 to 1993 the dems had control of the house, the peoples house.During this time they seemed to concentrate more on what would be good for the world rather than what would be good for the people of America. In the quest to win power the republicans adopted this. In the end it allowed them all to be captured by capitalists that had their eyes on world profit, not a successful America. Until congress reasserts their power for the benefit of the American people and not the corporations we will continue to be duped by these agreements.
I urge all of you to spend some time on the FEC website. Everything you need to know about why your representative does what they do is there, follow the money! These new C-4 organizations are making this harder to do but does congress do anything to make the money trail easier to follow? My congressman, Steve King, is used as a fundraiser by the far left, he is considered right wing and tea party, and as pro gun as you can get but he continues to enrich his own family with his campaign funding. If he is one of the "good guys" what are the rest doing? They are all beholding to a certain degree to big money corporations, bought and paid for. They all proclaim their dislike of big government but then call for more federal funding of their pet issue.
In my not so humble opinion the only cure is to send new people every term, that way the only thing they have as a guide for how the government should operate is the constitution.
