reloads causing bolt assembly to hang up in AR10T was created by foxhunter

Just in case anyone else encounters bolt hangups, Here is another cause. I ran some recent reloads using military brass and the first 4 rounds caused the bolt to hang up, requiring me to bang the stock on the ground while pulling the charging handle back to get the round to break free. I measured the rounds and discovered the 2 mm at the base of the case was not resized. Apparently I hadn't gotten the small base resizing die down low enough on that batch. I must have assumed the die as it was already set was correct. Just that small amount apparently is keeping the bolt from closing correctly. stupid mistake.
I now get to UNLOAD 250 rounds so I can use them in the AR, or I may just reserve them for my bolt gun, which grudgingly accepts them.

RCBS makes a nice bullet puller. Hopefully you won't have to use it much.

I always readjust the die every time I size. Too many little things can go wrong otherwise.

Oh, now you give me good advice. I have learned my approach of do first, read the directions if all else fails' is not a good way to approach reloading for the AR. Dad always said I had to learn everything the hard way. Funny, I seem to be saying that to my son a lot too
Spent last evening pulling bullets ( I had reloaded this batch in 2012)

Pull the "De-Capping" pin to leave the primers in the cases.
I`m sure You already k-knew this though.
Things is moving fast now.

I did that. I also had the bright idea that if I removed the decapping pin, I could resize the case with the bullet still in it. NOT! It just crushes the case at the base of the neck.

resizing is progressing slowly as I get time. Have resized and reloaded 200 rounds, and rounds are feeding and ejecting with no problem in the AR10T carbine.
I am using military brass, CCI lg rifle primers, 41.9 grains Varget, Berger 168 grain bullets and some Hornady 165gr AMAX bullets.

That should work, Your loads that is.
Pulling booolits takes time, it is all part of the program of reloading.
I too was having a problem getting the die all the way down the casing, I added a slight bit more lube and that seemed to make the resizing go easier. do`nt want to get too much lube, a dab is all it takes.
Now, pics. of targuts so We too can see how the loads is coming out the barrel. :whip:  :cowboy:
