My First AR-10T BNF Range Session was created by JustMe

16 Jul 10, 95-98F degrees per my truck thermometer. The manual said to break in the rifle by taking single shots and cleaning after every shot up to 9 shots. Then shooting 5-shot clips and cleaning after each clip up to 30 shots. I used some store bought Win 150 & 180 grain Power Points for the barrel break in (50 rounds). Then I switched to some hand loads cleaning the barrel each time I changed powder types.

It didn’t like the store bought stuff as much as the hand loads. The best I could shoot at 100 yards with the 150 and 180 grains Win Power Points was 1 ¾H x 2W inches.
- The 150 grain Win max spread was 2” for 5-shots
- The 180 grain Win max spread was 4½” for 5-shots
- The 150 gr was also much more consistent staying between 1 ¾- 2” for each 5-shot group.
- The 180 gr Win Power Points had much more variation between each 5-shot group, some as small as 1 ¾” and others up to 4 ½”.
- 60 round break-in complete

The hand loads did much better at 100 yards.

Hey JM...great report...thanks for sharing...
On the trigger...YOU will get used to it...I love mine...
For the "store bought" stuff...I have never had much luck with Winchester, I found it to dirty...You should give Hornady a try...
Most of mine (ok all) I get online...no one around here carries it..
Try the 168 gr A-max....You will love it... ;)
