Anyone tried a Magpul MOE fixed stock yet? was created by Dabster

Hi,

Avid lurker and only sporadic poster...

I have and dearly love my 2004 AR-10T. It may be an oldie but it is a goodie. My only grief is that I do not like the stock. I know that many people are upgrading to Magpul UBRs but with a lot of weight and a hefty price tag I am looking at the Magpul MOE. Has anyone tried one yet? If so, were there any installation issues? How do you like it?

Are there any other replacement stocks that are worth considering?

Also, can anyone confirm that Magpul Olive Drab is the same as Armalite green?

Thanks and happy new year,

I do not have first hand experience with it but I would assume that it would bolt right on, with the exception of being either civilian or milspec outside diameter, rifle length receiver extensions are the same. I'm afraid I can't be much help on the color match either. It is a good looking stock though.

What is it exactly you do not like about your stock? I'm guessing its an A2. A common mod is to remove the spacer, install an A1 length stock, and ad an adjustable butt plate, like the one from accuracy speaks. It runs about $130 though.

Thanks for the quick reply.

You mentioned something I wasn't aware of... For non-collapsible stocks, is there a commercial vs. Mil-spec difference to worry about? I honestly thought there was only a difference in the collapsible stocks.

Why do I dislike the stock stock? First is that I'm looking for a way to add a mono-pod which the MOE does nicely. Second, a better cheekweld would be nice. At the monent my Spike's carbine with a Magpul RST feels better than my far more expensive AR-10!

Thanks again!

Since rifle stocks don't tend to rattle like a collapsible stock the mil vs civy is mostly a non issue. I have only ever encountered 1 problem ever where a cheap A1 stock would not fit over a RRA receiver extension. It is a rare occurrence, and for all I know I got an airsoft knock off, but since it did happen to me that ONE time, I like to be aware of it.

And do post up some pics when you get her all dressed up.

May be a few months before I get the MOE. A couple pics as it currently sits...
