New to me AR-10T was created by RickinMo

Hi guys it's me again the AR-10 Newbie asking silly questions again.
As I said in my last thread I have owned lots of AR-15s over the years and still do.
Last year I bought a Sig 716 and was immediately hooked on .308 ARs
I have always wanted an AR-10T but they were almost impossible to get new or used around here.
I recently found and bought a used AR-10T that I have a few questions about.
It has an 18" mid length gas system barrel that looks to be black coated stainless steel.
It is threaded and measures .870 right behind the muzzle brake.
Is this an Armalite barrel?
I can't find any markings anywhere on the barrel.
It also has a low profile gas block and a 14" Noveske fore end.
The bolt looks a little different to me too,not at first glance it just looks like a big AR-15 bolt but at the rear it looks to have a bushing installed with a nicely machined rod about 2" long inserted into it to add weight I suppose to aid cycling.
Is this a standard AR-10 bolt?
It seems to be a shooter, the first group I shot was .802 at 100 with Winchester Supreme match 168s.
It has been too windy to try any handloads yet but I'm hoping for good things.
I am just wondering what I have though it isn't going anywhere soon as I got it for $1100 and change.
Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for the help

Rick

Some photos of these things you are describing might help a bit Rick. Any chance of seeing some of these details?

Congrats on the new rifle by the way. No matter what it's made of, it sounds like it's working well...

SS bbl with black coating sound like the SASS bbl. As for this:

"The bolt looks a little different to me too,not at first glance it just looks like a big AR-15 bolt but at the rear it looks to have a bushing installed with a nicely machined rod about 2" long inserted into it to add weight I suppose to aid cycling.
Is this a standard AR-10 bolt?"

Think I we need a pic on that...but it shoots and seems to shoot well. Pics would sure help.

The lower will have what model of AR it is and the serial number can tell you the model...

Sounds like a good deal $ for you.

Thanks Guys I'm glad I'm not the only one puzzled by the bolt.
I will get some pics and post them ASAP.
The lower is marked AR-10(T) and the serial # is US307xxx.
I may not have explained what I have properly the bushing and the weight is in the rear of the bolt carrier not the bolt sorry
Sometimes I start explaining things and start thinking that because I know what I mean everyone else does too

Here are some pictures of the bolt carrier and the weight

(fixed em for ya. Next time, after you load the photos, look beside the tab you hit to load the photo and a button will appear that says "insert". Place your cursor where you wish each photo to fall in your post and then hit the "insert" button and they'll drop right onto your post and come out full size once you hit submit. That should fix you right up Sir - Sharkey)

I have heard of bolts being filled like that but that's actually the first one I've ever seen. Funny too because I just did a thread about a different type of recoil spring and they advised to make certain you don't have a bolt like yours before purchasing and I was thinking in all my years of ARs, I'd never actually seen on like that.

Then YOU show up...

Give it a little time on here and I'm sure Colt or another one of our serious gurus will have some more insight... :)

www.davidtubb.com/ar-15-carrier-weight-system

Carrier weight, keeps the bolt in lock-up just a fraction longer.
I've never heard of a stock Armalite with an 18 inch barrel but they do have a custom shop...........For $35 they will send you a letter telling how your rifle left the factory. I say forget the letter and spend the $35 on ammo! Looks like it should be a shooter :usa:
