I've used the JP Enterprises round handguards on 2 of my builds and really like them. They're available in various lengths to accommodate different barrel lengths and build options.

The is a photo of my new AR-10 build...

Im new to this. Figured I wouldnt start a new thread if I could find one that matched my curiosity. Im looking for compatible handguard/rails. Found the MI Gen 2 but not in stock. What are my other options? Im a newb and I am not sure what is compatible. Any info at all would help this newbie!!!

Triple B, The big thing is to make sure it is compatible with an Armalite AR10. The two main styles of 308 AR's are the DPMS/KAC type, and the Armalite AR10. Some catalogues and Amazon will sometimes say AR10 when they really mean the DPMS LR308. So if necessary, clarify with the place you buy it from that it is made for the Armalite design, not the DPMS or KAC design. Also the Rock River Arms 308s are another class as well and probably not cross compatible with the Armalite product.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Another newb question. Say I order the Midwest gen 2. Can use a 12 inch handguard with the 16 inch barrel without any extra gunsmithing? I guess what I don't get is the gas block. Would a longer handguArd just cover that areA?

I'm not familiar with that exact combination but in general I see the railed gas blocks replaced with low profile gas blocks when handguards extend past the gas block.
