Does the standard flash suppressor that comes on a lot of the Armalite AR-10 work as well as the Smith Enterprise Vortex Flash Eliminator?

I take it the Vortex is much better then?
Does the barrel have to be re-threaded, or can a Vortex be obtained in the standard armalite thread?

Just be aware that with the Vortex, you may hear the twing of a tunnig fork after each shot. Bothers some people. They look cool and seem to hide flash well (as what they are indended to do). I did not like the one I had on a DPMS .308 because it is very bulky and long.

The twing is from the forks vibrating on the vortex flash hider, not the buffer spring.....thanks for the buffer spring tip though.

I was thinking on one of those for my M-15..Wilson Combat....A friend of mine said he HAD one...traipsing through the woods hunting, he would get it caught in the brush...Just something to think about...

MSH....grease the buffer spring... :huh: :huh: Why????
