How big a scope can I use? was created by Charlie
I've seen a couple of "how big an objective" type questions in the last year or so, but the answers are mostly based on practical experience. I was looking for something today and found this:

Armalite Tech Note 92

The relevant part:

PART # RING I.D. HEIGHT MAX OBJECTIVE BELL
10805010 30 mm 1.45” 60 mm
10805020 1 inch 1.45” 60 mm
EX0022 30 mm 1.25” 50 mm
EX0027 1 inch 1.25” 50 mm
EX1415 30 mm 1.45” 60 mm

NOTES:
1. EX1415 is a set of A.R.M.S two piece Throw Lever Rings. All other rings are based on aone-piece mount.


The answer to all the scope mount/size questions is right there. I think we need a FAQ.
