Magpul UBR stock on an AR-10 was created by crux

I'm planning, if Magpul ever gets around to delivering UBR stocks again, to install a UBR stock on my Armalite AR-10. Now I've heard that the standard carbine buffer that comes with the Armalite Carbine stock won't work with the UBR. I've seen that Magpul advertises their own Buffer and Spring for the AR-10, but I've also heard that a fellow named Slash makes heavy buffers for using a UBR on AR-10s. I'm curious if anyone else has looked into this, and what they have learned.

Here's the product link:

Slash's buffer is supposed to be the cat's ass according to everyone over at AR15.com. I am toying with the idea of getting one myself but just have not pulled the trigger yet.

Hey, I have an Armalite AR10 carbine lower. It has the H3 buffer and carbine spring which came with the lower. I want to put a UBR on it as well. I was thinking that all I need to do is put the Magpul pripority buffer tube extension (which comes with the UBR) on my lower and put in my H3 buffer and spring and I would be good to go. Am I wrong? I see AR10 Candian Sniper Rifles with the UBR stock on gunbroker.com...so I Know it can be done.........right?

Unfortunatly no...

With the Magpul UBR being made specificaly for the M-15 series of rifles, putting it on an AR-10 would require a whole new buffer and spring.

The rough measurment of the inner deapth is:

M-15 car tube = 6 7/8" deep
AR-10 car tube = 7 5/8" deep

Check out Slash at Heavy Buffers. He has them available just for that application.

You do not use a car buffer tube extension for the UBR, Magpul has their own extension tube that comes with the UBR......unless it is the same length as a car tube........anyone know the length of the UBR pripority extension tube?

That's what I was trying to get at.

It's a replacement for the M-16/AR-15 so it will use the carbine buffer and buffer spring, meaning it's the same size as the AR/M-15 carbine receiver extension tube.

AHHH I see.......that makes sence....I will probably stick to the prs stock then....250 for a stock then another 112 for buffer and spring from slash....little too pricy
