Correction, I don't make these types of purchases through those types of venues.
If you check feedback you can get some screaming deals on ebay. I just picked up a pair of like new $350 North Face snow pants for $28 :twothumbs:
I've bought a ton of good kit there over the years for some deep discounts.
I am enjoying this thread as I used to shoot a long bow as a,teenager.
A very Zen sport. The following poem relates what happened when I took it up again as an adult.
I shot an arrow into the air
Where it landed I know just where
Though aimed at a Buck that stood a far
It pierced the radiator of my car.
lol
That prompted me to search for some Haiku....there's usually a gem to be found.
Translated from German and no longer true Haiku, it's too cool to pass up.

morning chill
the archer
stretches the silence
That's real poetry there.
Very nice, and triggers an incredible mental picture.
That limerick I wrote actually came from the outdoor humor back page of an Outdoor Life from the late 50's I remembered it for some reason from when I was a kid. When my Dad's new issue of Outdoor Life came, I would read it cover to cover even before he got home from work.

I tried the Bear Supermag 48 (initial choice) but it's a bit unsteady even at 45#. The Patriot felt a lot smoother than bows of less draw poundage...bull's-eyes yesterday confirmed it was a good choice for me.
The 30 #-ers are for the wife, but the length allows me to shoot 'em without overdraw and breakage. I've yet to shoot my wife's bows but we may take 'em out again today.
The Patriot could lever a truck out of a ditch...still lighter than a compound tho'. Arrow speed is good, hits hard.
The Dakota is feather light.
We haven't shot the Navajo yet.
It's a full recurve.
I think the Patriot is a deflex - bow curves slightly forward when unstrung - and the Dakota is a standard longbow.
FWIW, the Patriot is a collaboration of Bear and Byron Ferguson. He's that trick shot guy that promotes Gap shooting. I didn't take any of that into account when purchasing, but if his expertise has anything to do with the way this bow handles, Job Well Done!
I have no idea who Bearpaw is but my wife liked them more than the Samicks which were plentiful. Everything else was a takedown which we were not interested in.
Since we were in the bow shop for four hours, and attended to that whole time, I never once considered asking for a volume discount. We walked out with a compliment of accessories and three dozen arrows, too.
They weren't trying to make a sale for any of it.
A really good experience.
Back in the Jurassic when I was in Boy Scouts ( early 1960's). Our Scout Master worked for a company called Paul Bunyan outdoors, long out of business. They would give him the factory seconds of their bows and the Troop would sell them to raise money for the Troop. My Dad bought a 30 pound longbow, a 44 pound full recurve for me and a 65 pound semi recurve for himself. For the price of $2.75 each! These were bare bone early generation fiberglass, but great for a bunch of young adolescents. I actually got pretty good at one time. We got a couple of harpoon arrows and made up a reel filled with 99 pound test parachute cord and would go carp hunting. A lot of fun. When my Dad past away I found them at his house, but they got sold out under me by my siblings at an estate sale to settle the will. I was not happy, but such is life. I have fond memories of them.
