I have a nightforce 2.5-10x 34mm on my ar10T and it is the best scope I ever had. My FNAR has a leupold 3.5-10x 40mm and I thought it was great till I used the nightforce.
The only thing is the Nightforce is not twice as good as the leupold vx3, but it is twice as expensive. Also you can get 20% off on the vx3 Leupold right now, so today I bought another one for my new Armalite AR10A4f for $499 on line. I gave over $638. for the same scope 6 mo ago.

The Sightron scopes seem to be the best value in these parts.
Many reticle options and the optics are very crisp and sharp.
I was first introduced to the Sightron scopes when My son put together a 243.06 {6MM .06} on a Remington 1917 enfield,A real Coyoteeee getter LOL.
When I purchesed My M14 I looked at the Bushnell,Leopolds,Tascos,BSAs and the list goes on.I settled for the Sightron as the price was about 1/2 of the leading brands and the optics are very fine.
Things is moving fast now.

I'm a Nightforce fan myself. I really like the NP-R1 reticle. I've got a Leupold Mark 4 and have had Super Snipers in the past, but nothing compares to the Nightforces.

Well I am extremely disappointed, I went to Leupold's factory 6 weeks ago. I spoke with one of the tech rep's to get the best scope I could afford, and make sure I bought the right one. Charlie, the rep, very knowledgeable and helpful, told me 4-6 weeks to get mine built. When I called today he told me my order had not been processed! Something about a computer system change over when I placed my order. So all he could say was "Sorry". I told him to please cancel my order, and that maybe I would re-order after the first of the year. Boy, I always preach support local business and always buy American. If this is how they take care of the customer on a purchase, what is the service after the sale? I hope I am the exception, but I will look elsewhere.

Unfortunately I've heard this before about Leupold. You're not the first.

I would have to say that I agree with Edge, Night force is a very good scope. I have a Mark 2 ( Leupold, sorry) I bought from midway, and I am happy with it, I guess. It does not have the range I need with the AR-10, but for the shooting I do, it works.
One other option if you are interested is Shepard Scopes.
They are a Range finding scope that are really cool to work with. You may contact them to see if they can meet your needs......

I get scopes free in my position and I dont have a favorite one. There like a tool, use the right one for the job. Even if you think your bying local the chance of that is 0. Think what it takes to live today is on an offshore screw the US (us) base. You can not live without sending money offshore now. Look at the business deals in the news today, their handouts (tax) for getting US money. I have a list that comes through school yearly on US companys dealing in shooting sports and over 80% are offshore in some way. I hate to say it but buying American is going to be kin to a cave man from now on. You will have to wait untill the other countries tax the US companys back home to buy local. Watch what happens to QC on stuff in the next 20 years the big 0 up in Washington is fixing this up after health care. Sounds like there using Armalites past business plan.MSH

It is getting tougher and tougher to find anything made in the USA and that is not good,i wo`nt get into a rant about it and I do`nt feel anyone on the forum should either as it does create hard feelings amongst the members.
One thing I will say though is buy locally as much as You can to keep the maw and paw businesses going.
I have My favorite firearms store and I know a lot of items I can get cheaper off the internet but being a rather stubborn individual I will spend a few dollars more to keep the people in My town employed and that My friends is as close to buying American as You can get in todays economy.
It might not be made in the USA and some foreign country is pocketing the profits but it helps to keep My friends working.

I agree Marty. Almost everything that a person purchases now days has something in it that was made overseas. I know most scopes have lenses made in either Japan or Germany, including Nightforce. And depending on how much goes into the scope will determine whether it says "Made in USA" or "Made in Japan" on it, even if it is assembled in the USA.

One of the things I like about Nightforce or US Optics is they match the turrets to the reticle. (MOA/MOA or MIL/MIL) Leupold and other companies are way behind the curve, although Leupold supposedly will be releasing a MIL/MIL based scope at SHOT Show this year.

Another scope company to look at is Burris. They've been developing some really cool stuff lately. Their new XTR line is gaining a big following with 3-gun shooters. My shooting partner has one and its been holding up and serving him very well.

I have a 3-9 Burris on My pre 64 Winchester 30.06 and it has held up very well for over 20 years, however,I wanted to try something a bit different on the M1A1 and the AR10 so I went with the Sightron 3-9 with the mil. dots and they seem like a very good scope with real sharp optics, now it is just a matter of time to see if they will pass that test. :)
