Barrel Wrench Source?

Hello

Not trying to steer this thread off-course, and am reading with great interest, but how are y'all holding your LAR-8 uppers stable while all this wrenching is going on?
I can't find anybody who claims to make a receiver block, either.
Checked with DPMS and they said the Claw "probably won't work".

Any wisdom?

Thanks,

Hello

If anybody is looking to mount a RRA supplied free-floating handguard, I had great success with the "PRI AR-10 Barrel Nut Wrench" from SASS. Fit like a glove, and allowed me to torque it on down to spec. with a torque wrench (plus a bit more to align the gas tube hole).

Tool is built like a tank, as well.

Thanks for the info. With this info and some more from RRA confirming I can take a strap wrench to the round tube without screwing anything up (mmsshh told me, but I couldn't bring myself to try it until they verified). They said it is locktited to the barrel nut so they may both come off at once. I ordered the full length advanced half quad rail and they said it comes with a different barrel nut and the torque is 35 ft/lbs. In the end, my goal is to put on a Accushot BT-10 bipod..and a good tight flashlight. The bipod is 7 weeks lead time unless my swat buddie can get it quicker than my civilian status as is hinted on AccuShots web site. Midway is backordered on the barrel wrench. Where did you get yours?

Hello, wielywilly-g

I got mine from 7.62SASS.com , but it appears they are currently out of stock. It is the "PRI AR-10 A2" wrench, not the AR-10 free-floating handguard wrench. I assume this also works on the standard AR-10 barrel nut. It was $22 and change. They also carried the receiver vise block that I found worked very well, if you're looking.

Hope this helps....

I got the Ridgid 31365 strap wrench in today and it looks like it would be able to twist off about anything. massive...

Are these 762SASS part descriptions correct of what you got?
ArmaLite AR-10 Vise Jaws for Upper Receiver $53.00
and
PRI Barrel Nut Torq Wrench for AR10 T Rifles. $22.50

Thanks,

Hello, Bill

Correct! I really screwed-up my description of that wrench, huh?

Parts # 03-0085 (wrench) and # EX1615 (vise) worked flawlessly for me to install this "308A0010HA RRA LAR-8 Advanced Half Quad Mid-Length " on my LAR-8 A-4.

I have a feeling both of these tools are going to come in handy for future jobs.

I just had the plastic guards on mine, no sweat getting them off, but the delta ring made getting to the stock barrel nut a PITA.

I hav'ta think RRA has some idea this common stuff will fit......

Good luck and happy shootin'!

Hello, wielywilly-g

My AR-15 wrench by the same manufacturer has 5 pins, and a smaller center hole that won't fit over a .308 barrel.
I wonder if they mistakenly shipped you the wrong one?

I didn't see the flip side. I took it out of the package and it has 5 pins on one side and 4 pins on the other so it is probably correct.

It has a 1.24" center hole and all pins are .187 dia x .350. The 4 pins are not layed out symetrical. While they are on the same radius (.860), they are positioned at 0,90,194.79, and 270 deg. Seems weird.
