Interesting: if the remnant pack pictured actually IS what that bomb was in, it matches the pack on the guy in one of the other photos, but is not one of the guys they are chasing around.

So where do I fit when calling myself a Libertarian but being a very active republican??????? Our group took the state convention only to be crushed by the national rules committee. My neighbors can no longer send me as there representative to the convention, I must be picked by the winning campaign. This would make sense if all we were doing was voting on the president but that is only a tiny part of what we do. We elect party officials and set the state party platform, why should all these choices be made by just those on the winning side and selected from on high? They have gutted the Iowa caucus system and squelched all grassroots activists in the party here, why? Does the Liberty wing of the party have a plan they don't like?
Both party's seem to have left the people behind, along with the constitution. I'm just hoping for a real third choice some day..................

My grand parents on both sides were hardcore deep south democrats. They didn't pay much attention to anything political, but they never missed a vote, and would go down the ballot checking off the democrat knowing nothing else, not even the candidates names most of the time. Gun control was okay by them, still steeped in the ideology behind such things as jim crow laws, they never once thought it would apply to them. Then Bill Clinton came along, with the AWB, and they were surprised. Genuinely shocked that there was no exception for "proper citizens in good standing", something they had assumed would exist when they supported it. Then obama...a democrat... stopped them voting entirely and politics became the forbidden topic. not one word. Growing up around this, I could never agree with anything from the left. The discussions I've had with these "progressive" types on campus has shown me they support these ridiculous laws, fully convinced it does not apply to them, only the people they don't want to see armed. The only difference being the class, category, race, status, whatever they expect it applied to.
I can't stand the party game. People fussing and fighting for their side, no matter how bad they get screwed by it. I've been voting my conscience for a long time, party be damned. Does this person keep promises? Honor? Integrity? support what I believe in?
I've been Independent since I was 19. I Always get told how I'm throwing my vote away because I wont jump on this or that bandwagon. The state of things in this country, I can honestly say, I had nothing to do with.
Now If I could just convince everyone else to stop throwing their vote away on the lesser evil, and instead vote for what they know to be right, making a fully informed decision......

I hear you on the independent vote, I've wrote my own name in more times than I've voted for anyone else, I refuse to choose between evils. The dilemma for me has been that I want to help change it and there are only two places to go here in Iowa. We have lots of registered independents but they really have no say in the process till the very end. I start right there in my precinct asking to be a delegate and voice my opinion all the way but my peers keep sending me to the convention and electing me to committees, did anyway. I've had too many lengthy discussions about my congressman (Steve King) and how his relatives end up with a large percentage of the campaign spending he does,(2002, 2004 FEC records then google the addresses and names) I don't think for a minute that the party elite will ever let me go again with the rules in place now. The democrats here will still be voting on their neighbors so I may just have to change registration if I want a voice..........

Libertarian can be both a Democrat and or a Republican. Libs want to be free of govt control...but again I am talking Democrats, NOT Liberals, Progressives or Socialists. As you drift further to the left your desire for more an more govt control and a strong central govt increases.
This then begs and answers the question on God and gun control. God is out, gun control is in. These two are essential for a totalitarian govt.
1) Transference of the peoples allegiance to God and religion to the govt and its leaders. You might have noticed (I DID) the effort to create a God like aura around Obama, the refs to him as the messiah and our savior along with praises of him, his CZARS and the overall leadership of govt.
2) Gun Control: Cannot effect a totalitarian govt if the people have guns and can defend against tyranny.
Do the above 2 and live under the rule of a communist-socialist dictator...
