Hello to all:
My name is jim and I just found this site a few days ago. I have beem shooting all my life but mostly contenders. About 2 years ago I started playing with th AR platform.
I have 3 ARs in 5.56. One is a Bushmaster varmenter with the 24" bull barrel. This rifle started me wanting to try long range shooting. I know that it can be done with the little 5.56 but I wanted MORE POWER and also buy a new rifle.
Last week i bought a DPMS lr308T. I went to the range to try it out and found out this wes not quite what I wanted. There is nothing wrong the rifle; in fact it shot great but it just wasn't me.
Saturday I picked up a Armalite Super S.A.S.S. even though I haven't tried it out yet I think will be what I'm looking for! I will post pictures when I have them and range reports also.
Good shooting
Jim

Well Mrhog, (Jim), I first must apologize that I did not respond earlier, I have been involved with another project, I would like to welcome you to the site and I will say that we all look forward to discussing with you the various topics at hand....
A Super Sass you say, that is a fine rifle and look forward to seeing it in the gallery. We like to see our fellow AR-10 owner's guns....The DPMS is also not a bad rile either, you are lucky to own both.
Again welcome to the site....

New to the forum. I have several firearms including my AR 15s in 6.8 spc and 5.56. Finally got PERMISSION from the wife (aka "the bank") to build yet another rifle! This time I'll be building my first but hopefully not last AR 10 platform. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions and any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Tim..........

Hi everyone. I'm 99% sure it's Armalite for my first AR 10. Enjoyed the lighter caliber in the military but want the 308. Appreciate being able to lurk around picking up tips. Thanks. If all goes well (banker and saving) looking to purchase this summer.

I've spent a couple of days reading over some of the posts and this looks like it will be a great site for help, ideas and just plain enjoyment. I'm new to AR's but am looking foward to owning and using my new AR-10.

Casamacs;
Welcome to the site and glad to hear that we have helped you in your decision. Hope all goes well and you are able to get the one you want...Just a note, if you can't find the one you want at your local dealer, I always recommend ordering it, you will be happier that way..

Trigger Time, glad to see you joined up. I think you will find a new home here and all the info you need.
Just to let everyone know, he has ventured here from another site, after announcing his purchase of his AR-10 A4, I guided him here and invited him to join us.
So if you guys would, welcome him to the site.
So, TT, any thing you want to know about your new purchase, just ask. We will be glad to help you in anyway that we can...
Again, good to see you here, I think you will like it. :)

hi my name is Andre i am new to building AR-10's but have fired my fair share of the m16 and m4 in the marines. I have been looking at a lot of set ups and and reading about parts. I have not purchased any parts yet but i think im going to the gun shop tomorrow to order the lower receiver from armalite since i dont have a ffl. Here is what im thinking my build will be

lower-armalite
upper-armalite T with rail including bolt
barrel-dpms 24" ss match fluted with gas block
lower receiver parts-armalite with match 2-stage trigger
buttstock- super sass magpul
handguards- ff quad rail 12"

and there will be other parts like a bi-pod and scope but that's basically just to build the gun. i am also really interested if anyone has put a .50 Beowulf upper on a AR-10 lower and it worked
