Senate Bill 347 B-Engrossed is expected to be heard on the state House floor tomorrow, June 8. Introduced by state Senator Diane Rosenbaum (D-21), SB 347 was amended in the state House to include a provision that would prohibit a public body from releasing information that identifies either an applicant for, or a holder of, a concealed handgun license (CHL). A key factor of this bill is that it would also exempt the disclosure of records pertaining to a domestic violence service or a resource center that assists those affected by domestic or sexual violence who visit the center for referrals, resource information, or any related services.

State lawmakers on Tuesday moved forward legislation that would outlaw the open carrying of unloaded handguns in public places. Four previous attempts in the Legislature to prohibit the practice have failed over the last seven years.
